emergency of the female kind - at003 2023

  • 1. This town is big enough for the both of us

When you’re not sure where you fit in, as long as you’re honest and true to yourself, you will be unique. Think it, live it, do it - after all, This Town Is Big Enough For The Both Of Us.

  • 2. take a moment on byker bridge

With some cracking views over Newcastle and Gateshead, just stop and Take A Moment On Byker Bridge. It also overlooks one of the best cultural hotspots in the North East, a place where many of these tracks were written, The Ouseburn Valley.

  • 3. power to the loser

Power to the loser is the song for all you ‘losers’ out there. United together, let’s untwist the meaning of success into something you believe in. So many people don’t see beyond financial benefit, or they somehow see your identity as flawed. We’re losers…so what! Keep doing what you do. We aren’t the problem, we are the solution!

  • 4. a little more compassion

A Little More Compassion - it goes a long way.

When your own emotions prevent you from trying to see another persons pov., compassion is having the awareness that you won’t always be capable of empathy - but knowing that every single living thing on this planet deserves it.

  • 5. anyway, back to me

This is about struggling to find your way after breastfeeding. When your hormone levels and life routines return to normal and now you’re left genuinely wondering ‘who am I?”.

  • 6. start giving a fuck

Whether it’s climate change, education, poverty, your autonomy, your needs, your freedom (the list could go on) - our kids, the world and the future needs us to take matters into our own hands because it’s obvious the-powers-that-be don’t give a fuck about it!

  • 7. it's meant to feel better than it looks

This is about dancing and expression - it‘s your way or the highway!

    Appearances aren’t everything…appearances aren’t anything.

  • 8. save this woman

This woman I can save, Save This Woman - from that dark place. That place you shouldn’t be.

  • 9. keep your eye on the white ball

Staying focused can feel fatiguing. Sometimes, in order to keep going, you just need to Keep Your Eye On The White Ball.

  • 10. emergency of the female kind

WOMEN! Stand up for one another, don’t give in to bitchiness or envy and don’t be a queen bee! See your dark times in others and use your confidence to support them while they need it. We really are as powerful as we say we are, if we use it well.

  • 11. wear it and share it

Just a couple of ways to express your identity.

  • 12. your song is true

A song about becoming proud of who you really are. Finding what was lost and bringing it into the light.

lyrics

3. power to the loser

We gather all our truth and pieces

Find a place to bear our strength

Set it into motion

Freeing, believing there’s room to try our best

Within the limits of our boundaries

And within the rules of the game

And then you notice, you go un-noticed

Well come on, we’re broken too

I won’t play this senseless game

Give the power to the loser

The chooser, the shaker, the fake

Give a reason for the bright eyed

The too-denied, to stand up and say

Give the power to the loser

The chooser the shaker, the fake

We ran at it with our eyes closed

And the field chose

Now we’re not here anymore

We are the ones who control the future

The place that brings to bear our strength

Don’t wait your turn

Just turn away from the mob

That challenges the vigour of our own vision

Envision the way you want the world to see your best

Imagination - the key, the core, the mother

Hold on, we’re coming too

I won’t play this senseless game

Show your power to the losers

The choosers, the breakers, the fakes

Sock it to them with the power

The louder you cry your belief

That we’re gonna have to fight this delusion we are the ones beneath

This gathering sky that eludes them

And you won’t hear anymore

8. save this woman

She’s coasting in the cage, cage

Broken from the rage

This woman I can save

Save this woman

Head down in the light

Back down from the fight

There’s freedom in retreat

Taking off the beat

Cos hope’s thin right now

Hope’s thin right now

A bold spin somehow

She’s coasting in the cage, cage

Broken from the rage

This woman I can save

Save this woman

Time turns the table

A token of your turn

Avoid, at your peril, feeling what you learn

Cos hope’s thin right now

Hope’s thin right now

A bold spin somehow

She’s coasting in the cage, cage

Broken from the rage

This woman I can save

Save

This woman in vain

This woman in pain

She’s coasting in the cage, cage

12. your song is true

She watches from behind a paper wall

life begins for some as true love calls

You faltered at the door

You’ve made mistakes before

I know you will be there, in time

Watching others run to fill your shoes

Eclipsed by your own senses, fading out of view

Do you feel the blame?

You ran off when it came

It’s the fact you left it all for them, time and time again

Can you feel that call, that drive?

You learn how to crumble to survive

It’s wilderness in here

There’s no one to appear to

So face yourself, no one else is looking at you

Can I find a way to turn this on?

It’s all burning bright and the clouds are gone

I know your song is true

This story is all you

Find the frame you stand tallest in, be proud
